In 1989, Colombia won its first Copa Libertadores title, after Atlético Nacional won the final against Olimpia de Paraguay. Already in the knockout phase, they beat Racing, Millonarios, Danubio and, finally, Olimpia in a final that was decided by penalties.

27 years later, Atlético Nacional returned to crown the champion of the Copa Libertadores. On this occasion, he faced an Ecuadorian team in the final. In the group stage, which it shared with Huracán, Peñarol and Sporting Cristal, it finished in first place with 16 points and not a defeat. Caldas once won in 2004
The other Colombian team that won the Copa Libertadores is Once Caldas. In this case, it is the 2004 season and the final was won against one of the Argentinian clubs with the most trophies, Boca Juniors. In the group stage, Blanco faced Maracaibo, Vélez Sarsfield and Fénix; it is noteworthy that he finished in first place with 13 points and only one defeat.
