For fans of action and fantasy films there is good news because three of the strongest films of the year are coming to streaming. We’re talking about Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever, Black Adam, and Top Gun Maverick.
Despite the relative success at the box office of Black Panther 2, the Marvel film was far behind in revenue compared to Top Gun Maverick, which is still the highest-grossing film of 2022, a title that only Avatar 2: El Camino del Agua can overtake , James Cameron’s new production had a production cost that exceeded $250 million.
At the time of publication, Wakanda Forever had grossed close to $750 million, nearly half of Maverick’s $1.487 billion. Although Marvel’s proposal has a few days to raise funds, Avatar 2 is released in mid-December, and it won’t have much time left.
Black Adam, meanwhile, with The Rock as the protagonist, was once again a failure for DC Comics, which failed to find a way around its films. It only got $385 million in revenue and fell short of the top grossers of the year.
Marvel isn’t doing very well at the box office either, if we compare it to other movies like Avengers, but the change in tone registered in Phase 4, beyond the pandemic, seems not to like all the viewers, who are easy to find . the traditional action stories. The new characters, much drama and the political tone, would not be well received.
