It is one of the favorite films of 2022 with a great chance of winning one or more Oscars. Directed by Steven Spielberg, one of the greatest filmmakers in the history of cinema, The Fabelmans can now be seen online in digital stores like Apple TV (click here) or Amazon.

The film is a personal portrait of the childhood and adolescence of the director, who has in his long filmography varied titles such as The Hunters of the Lost Ark, ET, The Purple Color, The Empire of the Sun, Jurassic Park, Schindler’s List, Amistad, Saving Soldier Ryan, War Horse, Artificial Intelligence, Previous Sentence, Lincoln, Bridge of Spies, The Post and much more.

What is the film about?

Based on a script written by Spielberg himself and Tony Kushner, it is a biography about Sammy Fabelman, a young aspiring filmmaker, based on Spielberg’s story. The film stars Gabriel LaBelle as Sammy, with Michelle Williams, Paul Dano, Seth Rogen and Judd Hirsch in supporting roles, and is dedicated to the memories of Spielberg’s real parents, Leah Adler and Arnold Spielberg.

How has it been with the critics?

According to the IMDb portal, it recorded an average audience rating of 7.7 points out of a maximum of 10. Meanwhile, in the Metacritic.com portal, the press obtained an 88% approval rating out of a maximum out of 100. While for readers, the score was 7.3 out of 10.

How much did The Fabelmans collect?

The film ended up grossing a modest $15 million worldwide, though it’s yet to open in several countries, and if it does well at the Oscars, it could potentially get a boost, albeit a minor one.
