  • 1 cup rice
  • 4 cups boiling water
  • Slow cooking pot
  • 1.5 quart glass dish
  • Steam bowl
  • Pinch of salt

First, you need to put a bowl of steam inside the slow cooker. Remove the center stick from the steaming bowl and place directly in a 3.5 to 6 quart slow cooker.

The next step is to heat the slow cooker, covering it for about 15 minutes over high heat. You need to boil 4 cups of water separately and add just two cups to your slow cooker.

It’s time to place the glass dish in the steam bowl. Add the remaining 2 cups of boiling water with a cup of raw white rice. Mix with a spatula. Don’t forget to add a pinch of salt. Keep the slow cooker covered with a lid. Let it cook for about an hour and a half, or until the water is completely absorbed. It should be ready to be served right away!

Spray the slow cooker generously with your cooking spray. The texture of brown rice is more sticky than white rice, so the non-stick prevents it from sticking to the pot. Add everything, rice, water and other extra ingredients like broth, herbs, etc. If you use a broth to boil the rice grain, you will no longer need to add water. Just make sure the measurement is the same as water.

It’s time to dump her and move on. You need to make sure that the slow cooker is on high heat so that it is perfectly cooked. The cooking time of brown rice is 3 hours. You can serve it hot and reserve the leftover rice to store in the fridge or freezer.

Be sure to use cold water to rinse the soaked wild rice. After soaking overnight, rinse and drain properly. You can use a strainer to drain it.

The next step is to transfer the drained rice to the slow cooker. Add water or broth at the same time. If you want to add additional ingredients like spices or herbs, now is the time to do so.

For brown rice, simmer and wait 3 hours for it to cook. Sometimes it can take longer than cooking the rice in a saucepan, especially if the brown rice is soaked for only a few hours.
