Is your Delta-8 tincture ineffective? Here are 3 possible reasons

Delta-8-THC is a new craze that is delighting lovers of heady cannabinoids while causing consternation in the medical industry. Like CBD before it, you can find D8 products online, at gas stations, marijuana dispensaries, tobacconists, and convenience stores in states where it’s legal.

However, unlike CBD, delta-8 causes an intoxicating high similar to that experienced when using delta-9-THC, which is most famously associated with marijuana. If you use weed regularly and buy a delta-8 tincture, you will find that the level of intoxication is less potent than you are used to. In fact, the D8 high is about half as strong as what you’ll experience using the D9.

Unfortunately, there are many reports of people buying delta-8 oils only to be very impressed with the results. Instead of immediately assuming that the effects of the cannabinoid are exaggerated, there are other reasons why the delta-8 tincture did not work. This article briefly explores three of them.

1. The dose is too low

Let’s start by stressing the importance of taking a small amount of a delta-8 tincture when you first use it. This tip is especially relevant if you are not a regular marijuana user.

Those who feel the effects of D8 say they enjoy a clear high with feelings of relaxation and comfort flooding their body and mind. However, if you overdo it and use it too much, you might get an unpleasant feeling.

In general, the “correct” dose varies by user. Factors such as body weight, metabolism and tolerance play an important role. If you weigh 160 pounds, it may take up to 10 mg of a delta-8 tincture to feel even mild effects. For an individual weighing 100 pounds, 6 mg may be sufficient.

If you use a fairly low amount of delta-8 at first and don’t feel anything, adjust the dose the next time you try. Gradually increase the amount you use by 2 to 3 mg until you find the “sweet spot.”

2. You have a high tolerance to THC

If you are an experienced marijuana user trying delta-8, you may already have a high tolerance for THC. When you ingest THC regularly, the effects diminish over time. Consequently, 20 mg of the cannabinoid, for example, will not affect your CB1 receptors in the same way as before, resulting in a reduction in the effects you feel.

If you’re in this zone, it’s a good idea to consider taking a tolerance break (also called a T break). Although THC can deplete CB1 receptors, these receptors can recover over time if you stop using marijuana. It is entirely up to you to decide how long you want to abstain from THC. According to regular weed users, even a two-week break can be effective.

Once you’ve gone more than 14 days without ingesting any type of THC, try using a delta-8 tincture again. It is likely, though not certain, to have a more significant effect.

3. The product is of poor quality

In many ways, this is the simplest explanation for why a delta-8 tincture doesn’t work for you. The industry has no regulatory oversight, so brands are free to do as they please. They can produce extremely low grade delta-8 oils, put a label on them and start making money.

Several states have already banned the sale of delta-8 due to safety concerns. In fact, staff at prestigious scientific laboratories suggest that customers are being used as guinea pigs in many cases. The fact is that the Cannabis sativa L. the plant does not contain enough D8 for profitable extraction. Therefore, manufacturers create it in a laboratory environment where they convert delta-9 or CBD through a process called isomerization. Unfortunately, the standard of what is produced varies drastically from product to product.

When purchasing any delta-8 tincture, make sure it comes with a third-party lab report from a trusted lab. This document should describe the content of D8 and may also analyze the product for harmful ingredients such as pesticides and heavy metals. If there is no third party lab report, don’t buy delta-8 tincture as there is no telling what is in it!

Delta-8 works when the product is of premium quality

Some brands, like Premium Jane, create delta-8 products that work. These entities use sophisticated techniques and provide quality evidence with laboratory reports. If you are using a higher grade delta-8 tincture and it still doesn’t work, you may need to take a T break. Alternatively, you may have started with too low a dose to have a noticeable effect.
