Glastonbury 2023 is the biggest music festival in the world, and today we’re taking an in-depth look at what’s in store for its 2023 edition.
History of the festival
The Glastonbury Festival is one of the most famous music festivals in the world and is held annually at Worthy Farm, near the town of Glastonbury in the United Kingdom. The festival was founded by Michael Eavis in 1970 and has since grown to become one of the most important music events in the world.
The first festival was organized in September 1970 and was known as the Pilton Blues Festival. It was a modest event compared to modern music festivals, and featured performances by bands such as T. Rex and Keith Christmas’ Blues Band. Nevertheless, the event was a success and attracted around 1,500 people.
The festival became an annual tradition in the 1980s and by the 1990s, it had become the largest music festival in Europe, with over 100,000 people in attendance. The festival has featured some of music’s biggest acts, including David Bowie, The Rolling Stones, Coldplay, Beyoncé and Adele, among many others.
In addition to the music, Glastonbury Festival is also known for the themed areas, which include the Circus Zone, the Theater Zone, the Art Zone and the Comedy Zone. It has also become a major event for political campaigners and charities, raising millions of pounds for charities and causes.
The 2023 edition
There have not been few criticisms that have rained down on the poster. That if only male and white headliners (even if Lizzo occupies the same size as them), that there is little diversity and inclusivity, and other spectacles that have more to do with politics than with music.

The reality is that Glastonbury has presented a breakthrough of its entire line-up. A festival where there are dozens of stages, places to get lost in, surprise performances and an indescribable energy. It is possibly the festival where you can see more big names in music, paradoxically, in a place where so many are playing, that you will have the experience of your life.

At the top are Arctic Monkeys, who have headlined the festival before, a legend like Elton John (who has canceled part of the tour to make it to this date) and the big surprise of the edition. Guns N’ Roses. It’s true that the Guns hit zero at this festival, but it’s also true that Glastonbury has always been characterized by performances that surprise and leave the pot. Above, as the fourth rider, they are accompanied by Lizzo, who is surely closing one of the main stages.
It doesn’t end there, because there are artists lost on the bill who are headliners at many other summer festivals. This is the case of Lil Nas X or Llana del Rei, of legends like Yussuf / Cat Stevens, Texas, or the great sensation of 2023 Fred Again. The poster has something for everyone, no matter where you look at it. Pop stars, rappers, electronica, world music, more traditional rock, and as we pointed out, it’s just a breakthrough.
Once again, Glastonbury is the definitive European music event. The festival where you can lose yourself and find yourself as someone new, pure and renewed.
