Although it is often associated with fun at a social event or at family gatherings, dancing can become one of the activities that brings the most benefit to health, no matter the rhythm of the music; what matters is moving the body.
Based on the definition of physical activity, of which is any body movement where muscle contraction and energy expenditure is greater than in a state of rest, dancing is a good option to avoid a sedentary lifestyle and exercise regularly.
5 reasons why dancing is exercise
-
It burns fat, tones the body and strengthens the bones, that’s because dancing moves the whole body.
-
Develops physical coordination, strength and flexibility.
-
It increases the flow of oxygen in the blood, which improves circulation to all organs.
-
It improves mood by releasing stress, which creates a sense of well-being.
-
Create social links with other people, friends or family.
These reasons make it an excellent exercise to avoid cardiovascular diseases, you just need to devote enough time and intensity to it, just as you would when practicing exercise or sport.
If you want to exercise by dancing, keep in mind:
-
Do half an hour a day of dancing at a moderate intensity, or an hour 3 times a week at a high intensity, this will cause a gradual increase in heart rate.
-
Take rest intervals between dances, this helps you catch your breath and lower your heart rate.
-
Wear comfortable clothing and shoes, this greatly facilitates movement and flexibility, and allows sweat to evaporate.
-
Stay well hydrated before, during and after dancing.
-
If you go out dancing with friends and family, avoid the consumption of alcoholic beverages.
Dancing is a great ally for the body and mind, besides it is fun if you do it in the company of more people.
